Transfer the measurement of your window opening onto one of the vertical blinds. Step 3 mark and cut blinds. Make sure that the masking tape covers the entire area you are cutting. Use your measuring tape and measure the vertical height distance of the window opening from the where the rod will be to an inch or so above floor level.

Cut along the new edge line of the first slat using 10 inch heavy duty shears or tin snips. Lay them on the saw and line up the blade where you need to cut. To cut blinds start by marking a straight line on the head rail where you want to cut it using a pencil. Small cuts will result in a jagged bottom edge.

Then use a hacksaw or tin snips to cut the head rail along the line. Once you ve cut the head rail secure the ends of the blind slats with a rubber band and cover the ends with masking tape so they don t splinter or chip. Make a cutting line for the measurement by using a pencil and straight edge.
